This very spectacular glass icon was bought at the monastery in Nicula from an Orthodox monk and is called The Mystical Wine press or Jesus and the Vines. It shows grapes growing from a vine out of Christ’s side and his hands squeezing grapes into a chalice. It is a pictorial representation of The Eucharist. I have a picture of the monk who sold the icon to me and have kept the original box he made from a piece of cardboard.
